L’actualité de la semaine au Moyen-Orient a porté essentiellement sur la normalisation des relations entre les Emirats arabes unis et Israël et les réactions des pays arabes et musulmans suite à cette annonce. Environ 2000 palestiniens ont manifesté mercredi 19 août en Cisjordanie occupée tandis qu’aux Emirats arabes unis, des militants émiratis ont eux aussi protesté, condamnant la décision du gouvernement en place qui va à l’encontre du soutien du peuple émirati à la cause palestinienne. En Turquie, la reconversion de Sainte-Sophie en mosquée en juillet de cette année est l’objet de plusieurs articles aussi bien dans le monde musulman qu’en Occident. Nous publions ici un article académique du magazine orthodoxe Commenweal. Celui-ci rappelle l’histoire de cette basilique, le pont qu’elle constitue entre les musulmans et les chrétiens, son importance pour les chrétiens à travers le monde et plus particulièrement, pour les minorités chrétiennes de Turquie, mais également pour les Turcs kémalistes.
