La CENCO et l'ECC favorables au dialogue autour du processus électoral

Le secrétaire général de la Conférence Épiscopale Nationale du Congo (CENCO) Mgr Donatien N’shole et le porte-parole de l’Eglise du Christ au Congo (ECC) Eric Senga, ont été reçus par Modeste Bahati, président du bureau du Sénat.

Les représentants de l’ECC et de la CENCO ont affirmé qu’un minimum de consensus entre toutes les parties prenantes au processus électoral, au stade actuel, mettrait le pays à l’abri d’une situation de crise post-électorale.

CENCO and ECC support dialogue around the electoral process

Monsignor Donatien N'shole and Eric Senga, respectively Secretary General of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) and Spokesman of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) were received by Modeste Bahati, President of the Senate Bureau. These two representatives of the ECC and CENCO argued to their host that a minimum of consensus among all stakeholders in the electoral process, at the current stage, would protect the country from any post-electoral crisis situation and further consolidate peace and harmony.

Plainte contre un élu concernant les attaques communautaires à Basankusu

Une plainte contre le député national Hardy Ngobe Yoto a été relayée par Actualité.CD. Selon ce média, la plainte, déposée à la Cour de cassation, est l’initiative d’un groupe de natifs et originaires de Djombo, secteur de Gombalo, territoire de Basankusu, dans la province de l'Equateur. 

Ils accusent l’élu du territoire de Basankusu d'avoir utilisé un groupe de gens se réclamant de la communauté Ngombe pour attaquer des membres de la communauté Mongo. Les plaignants soutiennent que ces attaques sont des crimes contre l'humanité, au vu des pertes humaines et de l’incendie de plus de 400 maisons.

Complaint against elected official regarding community attacks in Basankusu

The information of the complaint filed against the national deputy Hardy Ngobe Yoto at the General Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cassation was relayed by Actualité.CD. According to this media, this complaint is the initiative of a group of natives and originals of the Djombo group, Gombalo sector (Basankusu territory) in the province of Equateur (North-West) of the country. They accuse this elected official from Basankusu territory of having used a group of people claiming to be from the Ngombe community to attack members of the Mongo community. According to the accusations, the plaintiffs argue that these attacks are crimes against humanity because of the loss of life recorded and more than 400 houses burned.

À Beni : altercation entre jeunes et militaires ougandais

Une patrouille des militaires ougandais en territoire de Beni a mal tourné dans la soirée du 11 avril. D’après Barthélémy Kambale, délégué du gouverneur à Kasindi, la patrouille ougandaise a été empêchée d’opérer dans la zone par des jeunes hostiles à leur présence dans la région. Un jeune a été tué par balle et un autre blessé.

Non loin de là, dans la même soirée, un civil ougandais a été tué par la « justice populaire » dans le village de Kamirongo et un Congolais blessé. Ces deux personnes étaient soupçonnées par la population locale d’être des combattants ADF.

In Beni : altercation between young people and Ugandan soldiers

A Ugandan military patrol in Beni territory went wrong on the evening of Monday, April 11. According to Barthélémy Kambale, the governor's delegate in Kasindi, the Ugandan patrol was prevented from operating in the area by young people hostile to their presence in the area. During the altercation, one youth was shot dead and another wounded. Not far away, also in the same evening, a Ugandan civilian was killed by mob justice in the village of Kamirongo and a Congolese wounded. Both people were suspected by the local population of being ADF fighters.

Affrontements volents au Kasaï-Oriental autour d'une décision  de justice contestée

Des violents affrontements opposent les habitants du groupement de Bena Kapuya à ceux de Bena Nshimba depuis le mois de mars. Le 15 avril, des incendies et des champs détruits ont été signalés dans les villages de Bena Kabeya et Kalengalenga dans le territoire de Katanda au Kasaï-Oriental.

Les sources locales affirment que les habitants des groupements de Bena Muembia, et Bena Kapuya manifestent contre la remise en liberté provisoire par la cour d’appel du Kasaï-Oriental, de Paul Mutombo, prétendant au pouvoir du groupement Bena Shimba. Il est soupçonné d’être à la base des troubles ayant causé la mort de plus de soixante personnes et l’incendie de plus de 300 maisons, il y a deux ans.

Flying clashes between community groups in Kasai

Violent clashes have been taking place between the inhabitants of the Bena Kapuya group and those of Bena Nshimba since last March to date. On Thursday, April 15, 2022, fires and destroyed fields were reported in the villages of Bena Kabeya and Kalengalenga in Katanda territory in Kasai Oriental. Local sources say that everything has gone since the residents of the Bena Muembia and Bena Kapuya groups expressed their discontent following the provisional release by the Kasai Oriental Court of Appeal of Paul Mutombo, a pretender to power of the Bena Shimba group. The latter is suspected of being at the root of the unrest that caused the death of more than sixty people and the burning of more than 300 houses almost two years ago.

37 ONG appellent au respect des droits humains à l’Est

Dans une lettre ouverte au premier ministre, 37 ONG congolaises ont appelé le 13 avril à la fin de la répression et au respect des droits humains  dans les provinces de l'est de la RDC placées depuis près d'un an sous état de siège.

Parmi leurs recommandations à Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, les ONG mentionnent la libération de plusieurs personnes, des sanctions contre les militaires et policiers auteurs d'atteintes aux droits humains ou encore l'adoption d'une loi encadrant les modalités d'application de l'état de siège.

Call for an end to repression and respect for human rights in the East

In a letter an open letter to Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, thirty-seven Congolese NGOs called last Wednesday for an end to repression and respect for human rights in the eastern provinces of the DRC that have been under siege for nearly a year. Among their recommendations to the Congolese Prime Minister, the NGOs mention the release of these people, sanctions against the military and police perpetrators of human rights violations or the adoption of a law governing the modalities of application of the state of siege.

Le premier ministre condamne l’assassinat de Patrick Liyoya aux États-Unis

Le premier ministre a condamné l’assassinat aux Etats-Unis du jeune Congolais, Patrick Liyoya par un policier, lors d’un contrôle de routine. Au cours du conseil des ministres, Sama Lukonde a annoncé que l’Ambassadeur des États-Unis en RDC a exprimé sa vive désolation après cet assassinat.

Selon le porte-parole du gouvernement, « l’ambassadeur des États-Unis d’Amérique a assuré le Gouvernement de la République que tout est mis en œuvre  pour que le policier, auteur de cet assassinat, soit sévèrement sanctionné devant les lois américaines ».

Congolese government condemns the assassination of Patrick Lyola in the US

Prime Minister Sama Lukonde condemned the murder this week in the United States of the young Congolese, Patrick Liyoya, by a police officer, during a routine check. During the Cabinet, Sama Lukonde announced to members of the Government that the United States Ambassador to the DRC had expressed his deep desolation after the assassination. In addition, according to the government spokesman, "the ambassador of the United States of America reassured the Government of the Republic that everything is already being done by his country to ensure that the policeman, author of this assassination, is severely punished before the American laws in this area".

Regain de messages séparatistes dans le Haut- Katanga

Dans un contexte marqué par le regain des discours de haine, l'ambassadeur universel de la paix, Patrick Katengo a appelé les populations à privilégier l'unité, la paix et l'acceptation mutuelle entre toutes les communautés se trouvant sur le sol haut-katangais.

Depuis deux semaines, plusieurs messages ségrégationnistes et séparatistes sont envoyés dans les réseaux sociaux par des habitants du Haut-Katanga. La situation a poussé l'Assemblée nationale à dépêcher sur place une délégation de députés pour rencontrer les notables locaux.

Renewed separatist and hate messages in Greater Katanga

In a context marked by the resurgence of hate speech, the universal ambassador of peace, Patrick Katengo, in an interview with the media 7sur7.cd, called on the populations to privilege unity, peace and mutual acceptance between all the communities on the upper Katangan soil. As a reminder, for the past two weeks, several segregationist and separatist messages have been sent to social networks by populations of Haut-Katanga. A situation that pushed the National Assembly sent a delegation of deputies to this entity to meet all the notables.

La Communauté Islamique du Congo joue l'apaisement

Le Secrétaire général de la Communauté Islamique du Congo (COMICO), Moussa Kalama, invite chaque faction dissidente au sein de la COMICO à se réunir à son lieu habituel lors de la fête d'Aïd al-Fitr, marquant la rupture du jeûne du mois de ramadan, afin d’éviter des affrontements comme cela fut le cas l’année dernière. 

Il demande, en outre, au ministre de la Justice d’investir le camp Abdallah Mangala et ce, après plusieurs décisions judiciaires autour de la crise de leadership au sein de la Comico. 

The Islamic Community of Congo plays appeasement

The Sg of the Islamic Community of Congo (COMICO), Moussa Kalama, invites each dissident faction within comico to gather at its usual place during the festival of Eid al-Fitr, marking the breaking of the fast of the month of Ramadan in order to avoid clashes as was the case last year. He also asks the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals to invest the Abdallah Mangala camp and this, after several judicial decisions around the crisis of leadership within the Comico.
