Marche du 20 mai : l’opposition dénonce la violence des forces de l’ordre
Tout juste après la marche d’opposition du 20 mai à Kinshasa, le quatuor Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Augustin Matata Ponyo et Delly Sesanga a, au cours d’un point de presse, dénoncé la barbarie dont la population (leurs partisans) a été victime de la part des forces de l’ordre, lors de la répression de ladite marche. Selon la presse nationale, dont Radio Okapi, ces opposants ont fustigé l’utilisation, selon eux, de balles réelles dans l’objectif de les éliminer physiquement. Ils ont affirmé qu’ils vont maintenir la pression sur le pouvoir en place, notamment par l’organisation d’un sit-in devant le bureau de la CENI.

May 20 march: the opposition denounces the violence of the security forces

Au cours d’une conférence de presse jeudi 18 mai à Kinshasa, le Comité Laïc de Coordination (CLC), une organisation de laïcs catholiques revient à la charge contre le régime de l’actuel président congolais, Félix Tshisekedi. Elle lui reproche d’avoir transformé le gouvernement en une plateforme électorale en sa faveur et promet de nouvelles manifestations afin, dit-elle « de faire entendre l’exigence du peuple souverain lors de la tenue des élections ». En outre, comme le rapporte la RFI, dans ce point de presse, le CLC a énuméré ce qu’il considère comme des anomalies à corriger rapidement.

Lay Catholics criticize the ongoing electoral process
During a press conference on Thursday, May 18 in Kinshasa, the Lay Coordination Committee (CLC), an organization of Catholic laity which, according to RFI, was on the front line in the 2018 political demonstrations aimed at removing Joseph Kabila from power, returns to the charge against the regime of the current Congolese president, Felix Tshisekedi, whom it accuses of having transformed the government into an electoral platform in his favor and promises new demonstrations. Processus électoral 2023 : la mission conjointe d’observation électorale CENCO – ECC a rendu public son rapport
À l'occasion de la présentation du rapport de la mission d’observation électorale (MOE) conduite conjointement par la CENCO et l’ECC, les deux confessions religieuses ont invité le gouvernement congolais à prendre ses responsabilités pour organiser les opérations d’enrôlement des électeurs dans les zones sous contrôle des rebelles ou en proie à l'insécurité et à rendre public le plan de décaissement des fonds prévus pour tenir l'organisation des élections dans le délai constitutionnel. À en croire la presse locale, la publication de la synthèse du rapport final d’observation électorale sur la révision du fichier électoral participe à l’amélioration de l’intégrité, de la transparence et de l’efficacité du processus électoral en cours dans le pays.

Electoral process 2023: the joint electoral observation mission CENCO – ECC has made public its report
On the occasion of the presentation of the report of the electoral observation mission (EOM) conducted jointly by CENCO and the ECC, the two religious confessions invited the Congolese government to assume its responsibilities to organize voter registration operations in areas under rebel control or plagued by insecurity and to make public the plan for the disbursement of funds planned to hold the organization of elections within the constitutional deadline. According to the local press, the publication of the summary of the final election observation report on the revision of the electoral register contributes to improving the integrity, transparency and efficiency of the electoral process under way in the country.

Le gouvernement congolais veut accélérer le retrait de la MONUSCO
Dans un compte rendu de la 99e réunion du conseil des ministres tenue vendredi 19 mai 2023 à la Cité de l'Union Africaine, Patrick Muyaya, ministre de l’Information et porte-parole du gouvernement a rapporté que le gouvernement congolais étudie, en accord avec la mission onusienne, le plan de transition relative au processus de retrait de la MONUSCO. À en croire le porte-parole du gouvernement, au Conseil des ministres, le Premier ministre Sama Lukonde a informé tout l’exécutif national des conclusions qui sont ressorties de la réunion qu'il a tenu avec l'équipe de la MONUSCO le jeudi 18 mai 2023 ainsi que l'urgence d'accélérer les discussions dans le but de parvenir à une feuille de route claire et précise qui respecte tous les délais préalablement fixés.

Congolese government wants to accelerate MONUSCO's withdrawal
In a report of the 99th meeting of the Council of Ministers held Friday, May 19, 2023 at the African Union City, Patrick Muyaya, Minister of Information and Government Spokesperson reported that the Congolese government is studying, in agreement with the UN mission, the transition plan for the MONUSCO withdrawal process. Genève : le rapatriement des réfugiés congolais et rwandais au centre d’une réunion tripartite RDC - Rwanda – HCR
Voice of America a rapporté que la RDC, le Rwanda et le Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés (HCR) ont signé lundi dernier, au siège du HCR à Genève, une entente pour le rapatriement de leurs réfugiés. Selon Radio Okapi, la signature de ce document traduit l’engagement de deux pays à entamer un dialogue constructif afin de créer les conditions favorables au retour durable des réfugiés congolais et rwandais dans leurs pays respectifs.

Geneva: repatriation of Congolese and Rwandan refugees at the centre of DRC-Rwanda-UNHCR tripartite meeting
VOA reported in a press release that the DRC, Rwanda and UNHCR signed an agreement for the repatriation of their refugees last Monday at UNHCR headquarters in Geneva. According to Radio Okapi, the signing of this document reflects the commitment of two countries to engage in constructive dialogue in order to create favourable conditions for the sustainable return of Congolese and Rwandan refugees to their respective countries.

Dans un article de presse, la Radio Okapi rapporte que bientôt seront lancées les discussions entre la RDC et la partie chinoise pour le rééquilibrage du contrat RDC-Chine. À en croire cette radio onusienne, Félix Tshisekedi a fait cette annonce lors de la 99e réunion du conseil des ministres. Selon le Chef de l’État congolais, les membres de son cabinet, ceux du gouvernement, et ceux de la société civile mandatés pour travailler sur les points spécifiques devant faire l'objet des discussions avec la partie chinoise pour rééquilibrer cet accord, ont déjà déposé leurs conclusions.

Felix Tshisekedi announces the revisit of the DRC-China contract
In a press article, Radio Okapi reports that soon discussions will be launched between the DRC and the Chinese side for the rebalancing of the DRC-China contract. According to this UN radio, Felix Tshisekedi made this announcement at the 99th meeting of the Council of Ministers. Dans une interview diffusée par la presse locale, la délégation des élus de Kinshasa a dénoncé la complicité et l’implication de certaines autorités politiques – à partir de Kinshasa – qui entretiennent et financent cette crise pour des fins politiciennes et par là, elle a exprimé son inquiétude du fait que ce conflit met en danger près de 17 millions de Kinois.

Teke-Yaka communal conflict: Kinshasa Provincial Assembly denounces complicity and political involvement in this crisis
In an exchange with the President of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso, the provincial deputies of the City of Kinshasa, led by their president, Pastor Gode Mpoyi, evoked the armed and community tensions raging in the Bateke plateau, at the gates of the city of Kinshasa, as a result of the conflict between the Teké and Yaka communities. In an interview broadcast by the local press, the delegation of elected officials from Kinshasa denounced the complicity and involvement of certain political authorities – from Kinshasa – who maintain and finance this crisis for political purposes and thereby expressed its concern that this conflict endangers nearly 17 million Kinshasa people.
