Tension entre l’armée burkinabè et ivoirienne à la frontière

Le 28 mars, selon des informations diffusées sur Facebook, un militaire et un Volontaire pour la défense de la Patrie (VDP) ont été arrêtés par les forces armées ivoiriennes à Dantou, dans le département de Théini en territoire ivoirien et proche de Hélintira, une localité burkinabè frontalière.

Plus tard, selon la partie ivoirienne, une centaine de soldats burkinabè armés sont arrivés à motos menaçant les habitants de Dantou. Suite à cela, le détachement du Groupement Tactique Interarmes, basé à Tougouloukaye (district du Zanzan), a été placé en alerte maximale et un hélicoptère MI-24 ivoirien a été dépêché sur la zone frontalière, ripostant à des tirs des forces de défense et de sécurité burkinabè, puis s’est éloigné de la zone d’opération.

Selon la partie burkinabè, c’est suite à un assaut de l’armée burkinabè et de ses supplétifs contre une base terroriste à Hélintira, localité frontalière avec la Côte d’Ivoire, sous le joug des groupes armés terroristes depuis 2 ans, qu'un VDP et un soldat en poste avancé sur la ligne de front en territoire burkinabè ont été arrêtés par l’armée ivoirienne. Suite à cet événement, un hélicoptère ivoirien a ouvert le feu sur des soldats burkinabè de retour d’une patrouille à Hélintira, occasionnant des dégâts matériels.

Selon des témoignages, l’armée ivoirienne franchit régulièrement la frontière burkinabè à partir de cette zone. En septembre dernier, des gendarmes ivoiriens avaient été arrêtés sur le territoire burkinabè. De plus, le parc national de la Comoé, situé en Côte d’Ivoire, sert de base arrière aux groupes armés terroristes lorsqu’ils se sentent acculés par l’armée burkinabè, selon des témoignages d’orpailleurs clandestins burkinabè opérant dans le parc.

Tension between the Burkinabe and Ivorian armies at the border

On 28 March, according to information posted on Facebook, a soldier and a Volunteer for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) were arrested by the Ivorian armed forces in Dantou, in the Théini department on Ivorian territory and close to Hélintira, a Burkinabe border town.

Later, according to the Ivorian side, around a hundred armed Burkinabe soldiers arrived on motorbikes, threatening the inhabitants of Dantou. Following this, the Groupement Tactique Interarmes detachment, based in Tougouloukaye (Zanzan district), was placed on maximum alert and an Ivorian MI-24 helicopter was dispatched to the border area, returning fire from the Burkina Faso defence and security forces, before moving away from the area of operations.

According to the Burkinabè side, it was following an assault by the Burkinabè army and its auxiliaries against a terrorist base in Hélintira, a locality on the border with Côte d'Ivoire that has been under the yoke of armed terrorist groups for 2 years, that a VDP and a soldier on forward post on the front line in Burkinabè territory were arrested by the Ivorian army. Following this event, an Ivorian helicopter opened fire on Burkina Faso soldiers returning from a patrol in Hélintira, causing material damage.

According to reports, the Ivorian army regularly crosses the border into Burkina Faso from this area. Last September, Ivorian gendarmes were arrested on Burkina Faso territory. In addition, the Comoé National Park, located in Côte d'Ivoire, serves as a rear base for armed terrorist groups when they feel cornered by the Burkinabe army, according to reports from Burkinabe illegal gold panners operating in the park.

Nouvelle mesure pour renforcer le patriotisme

Le Burkina Faso a institué les Journées nationales d'engagement patriotique et de participation citoyenne (JEPPC) pour renforcer le patriotisme et promouvoir l'engagement citoyen. Ces journées se dérouleront le 26 mars et le 2 octobre de chaque année pendant quinze jours.

Le 26 mars a été choisi en référence au discours historique de Thomas Sankara, prononcé en 1983, tandis que le 2 octobre commémore son Discours d'Orientation Politique de la Révolution démocratique et populaire. Ces dates symbolisent l'engagement politique et les idéaux de la révolution burkinabè.

Le président de la transition a souligné l'importance de ces journées pour consolider les bases de la nation, renforcer la cohésion sociale et promouvoir le vivre-ensemble. Il a appelé chaque Burkinabè à poser des actes simples d'engagement patriotique, tels que planter des arbres, contribuer à l'effort de paix, s'engager comme volontaire pour la défense de la patrie (VDP), respecter les biens publics et payer ses impôts.

New measure to strengthen patriotism

Burkina Faso has introduced National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation (JEPPC) to strengthen patriotism and promote civic engagement. These days will take place on 26 March and 2 October each year for a period of two weeks.

26 March was chosen in reference to Thomas Sankara's historic speech in 1983, while 2 October commemorates his Discours d'Orientation Politique de la Révolution Démocratique et Populaire. These dates symbolise the political commitment and ideals of the Burkinabe revolution.

The President of the transition underlined the importance of these days for consolidating the foundations of the nation, strengthening social cohesion and promoting living together. He called on every Burkinabè to perform simple acts of patriotic commitment, such as planting trees, contributing to the peace effort, signing up as a volunteer for the defence of the homeland (VDP), respecting public property and paying their taxes.

Etape majeure vers la construction d’une centrale nucléaire avec Rosatom

Le gouvernement burkinabè a franchi une étape décisive vers la concrétisation de son projet de construction d'une centrale nucléaire en signant une feuille de route avec Rosatom, géant russe du nucléaire.

La convention a été signée lors du XIIIe forum international sur l'énergie nucléaire, "Atomexpo-2024", qui s'est tenu à Sotchi, en Russie, les 25 et 26 mars. Cette signature marque un moment crucial dans la mise en œuvre de la décision stratégique du chef de l'État burkinabè.

Cette avancée découle du mémorandum d’entente signé en octobre 2023 entre le gouvernement burkinabè et Rosatom, et ouvre la voie à une collaboration plus étroite entre les deux parties pour concrétiser ce projet ambitieux.

Major step towards the construction of a nuclear power plant with Rosatom

The government of Burkina Faso has taken a decisive step towards realising its plans to build a nuclear power station by signing a roadmap with Russian nuclear giant Rosatom.

The agreement was signed at the XIIIth international nuclear energy forum, "Atomexpo-2024", held in Sochi, Russia, on 25 and 26 March. The signing marks a crucial moment in the implementation of the strategic decision taken by the Head of State of Burkina Faso.

It follows on from the memorandum of understanding signed in October 2023 between the Burkinabe government and Rosatom, and paves the way for closer collaboration between the two parties to bring this ambitious project to fruition.

Huawei s’engage pour le développement des TIC au Burkina Faso

Huawei, l'un des leaders mondiaux des technologies de l'information et de la communication (TIC), a présenté les projets en cours de déploiement en partenariat avec le gouvernement burkinabè lors d'une audience avec le Président de la Transition.

Selon le Directeur général de Huawei Burkina, Christophe Liu, ces projets couvriront plusieurs domaines stratégiques, notamment la sécurité urbaine, l'électrification des zones rurales, l'accès à Internet et la formation des jeunes dans les TIC.

Huawei prévoit de former cinq mille jeunes burkinabè au cours des cinq prochaines années, en se concentrant sur des domaines émergents tels que la 5G, le cloud computing (informatique en nuage) et l'intelligence artificielle (IA).

En parallèle, l'entreprise prévoit de déployer plus de deux mille kilomètres de fibre optique pour améliorer la connectivité à travers le pays et renforcer l'efficacité de la communication entre les différents secteurs administratifs.

Cette initiative représente un engagement significatif de Huawei envers le développement des compétences numériques et l'infrastructure technologique au Burkina Faso.

Huawei commits to the development of ICTs in Burkina Faso

Huawei, one of the world leaders in information and communication technologies (ICTs), presented the projects being rolled out in partnership with the government of Burkina Faso during an audience with the President of the Transition.

According to the Managing Director of Huawei Burkina, Christophe Liu, these projects will cover several strategic areas, including urban security, rural electrification, Internet access and ICT training for young people.

Huawei plans to train five thousand young people in Burkina Faso over the next five years, focusing on emerging fields such as 5G, cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

At the same time, the company plans to deploy more than two thousand kilometres of fibre optic cable to improve connectivity across the country and enhance the efficiency of communication between different administrative sectors.

This initiative represents a significant commitment by Huawei to the development of digital skills and technological infrastructure in Burkina Faso.

99 milliards de FCFA mobilisés pour le Fonds de soutien patriotique

Le 26 mars sur sa page Facebook, le ministère de l’Économie, des finances et de la prospective au Burkina Faso, a fait le point des contributions au Fonds de soutien patriotique, une initiative mise en place par le gouvernement de transition en janvier 2023 dans le cadre de la lutte contre le terrorisme.

En 2023, le Fonds de soutien patriotique (FSP) a récolté plus de 99 milliards de FCFA, dont 70,22% proviennent des prélèvements des taxes, soit un montant de 69 543 879 842 FCFA, alors que les contributions volontaires ont été estimées à  4 090 578 154 FCFA, soit une part équivalant à 4,13%.

CFAF 99 billion raised for the Patriotic Support Fund

On 26 March, the Burkina Faso Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Forecasting posted on its Facebook page an update on contributions to the Patriotic Support Fund, an initiative set up by the transitional government in January 2023 as part of the fight against terrorism.

In 2023, the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP) collected more than 99 billion FCFA, 70.22% of which came from tax deductions, i.e. 69,543,879,842 FCFA, while voluntary contributions were estimated at 4,090,578,154 FCFA, i.e. a share equivalent to 4.13%.

Le Premier ministre préside le conseil des frontières

Le Burkina Faso avance vers la matérialisation de ses frontières dans le cadre de la première session ordinaire du conseil des frontières, présidée par le Premier ministre, Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela.

L'objectif de cette session est de dresser le bilan des actions menées en 2023 et de définir les orientations pour renforcer la coopération frontalière en vue d'assurer une paix durable.

Le conseil des frontières vise à contribuer au développement socio-économique et culturel des régions frontalières dans un environnement de paix et de sécurité. Le ministre de l'administration territoriale, Émile Zerbo, a souligné l'importance de revisiter les mécanismes de gestion des frontières pour anticiper les questions territoriales et garantir la sécurité des zones frontalières, tout en favorisant l'épanouissement des populations.

Il a mis également en avant le processus de matérialisation des frontières en cours avec certains pays et l'importance de résoudre rapidement les contentieux frontaliers. Pour atteindre ces objectifs, Émile Zerbo a encouragé les participants à dégager des orientations et recommandations pour améliorer la gestion des frontières.

Prime minister chairs border council

Burkina Faso is moving towards the materialisation of its borders within the framework of the first ordinary session of the Border Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela.

The aim of this session is to take stock of actions carried out in 2023 and to define guidelines for strengthening border cooperation with a view to ensuring lasting peace.

The Border Council aims to contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of border regions in an environment of peace and security. The Minister for Territorial Administration, Émile Zerbo, stressed the importance of revisiting border management mechanisms in order to anticipate territorial issues and guarantee the security of border areas, while promoting the development of populations.

He also highlighted the ongoing process of border demarcation with certain countries and the importance of rapidly resolving border disputes. To achieve these objectives, Émile Zerbo encouraged participants to draw up guidelines and recommendations to improve border management.

Visite du haut-commissaire des Nations unies aux droits de l'Homme

Le haut-commissaire des Nations unies aux droits de l'Homme, Volker Türk, a animé une conférence de presse le 21 mars 2024, après sa rencontre avec le président de la transition, Ibrahim Traoré.

Lors de cette conférence de presse, il a souligné plusieurs points critiques sur les violations des droits humains et la situation humanitaire. Il a mentionné des chiffres alarmants, notamment 1 335 violations et abus documentés en 2023, ainsi que 3 800 victimes civiles. Il a également noté des défis humanitaires majeurs, tels que 2,3 millions de personnes en insécurité alimentaire, plus de 2 millions de déplacés internes et 800 000 enfants non scolarisés.

Concernant la responsabilité et la protection des civils, Volker Türk a insisté sur la nécessité d'arrêter la violence gratuite perpétrée par les groupes armés et de tenir les auteurs de ces actes responsables. Il a souligné l'importance de protéger les civils et d'assurer que les forces armées agissent en conformité avec le droit international humanitaire et les droits de l'homme.

Au sujet de la transition en cours, il a recommandé de garantir une participation de tous les secteurs de la société, y compris les femmes, les jeunes et les communautés marginalisées.

Enfin, Volker Türk a souligné l'importance de bâtir la confiance entre les communautés et entre les institutions étatiques et la population dans le cadre d'un nouveau contrat social.

Visit from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, held a press conference on 21 March 2024, following his meeting with the President of the transition, Ibrahim Traoré.

At this press conference, he highlighted several critical points concerning human rights violations and the humanitarian situation. He cited alarming figures, including 1,335 documented violations and abuses in 2023, as well as 3,800 civilian casualties. He also noted major humanitarian challenges, such as 2.3 million people suffering from food insecurity, more than 2 million internally displaced persons and 800,000 children not attending school.

With regard to the responsibility and protection of civilians, Volker Türk stressed the need to stop the gratuitous violence perpetrated by armed groups and to hold the perpetrators of these acts accountable. He stressed the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring that the armed forces act in accordance with international humanitarian law and human rights.

With regard to the ongoing transition, he recommended ensuring the participation of all sectors of society, including women, young people and marginalised communities.

Finally, Volker Türk stressed the importance of building trust between communities and between state institutions and the population as part of a new social contract.

Le gouvernement réagit aux accusations de l'Associated Press

Le gouvernement du Burkina Faso a vivement réagi aux accusations portées par l'agence de presse Associated Press (AP) dans un communiqué daté du 23 mars. Il a dénoncé les allégations qualifiées de tendancieuses et malveillantes de la part d'AP à l'encontre des Forces combattantes burkinabè et a rejeté l'article publié par AP qui accuse les forces de sécurité burkinabè de tuer de plus en plus de civils.

Le gouvernement a remis en question les témoignages sur lesquels s'appuie AP, provenant de prétendus rescapés. Il soupçonne l’Agence de Presse de participer à une campagne de communication visant à discréditer les Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS) ainsi que les Volontaires pour la défense de la Patrie (VDP).

Le gouvernement appelle à la prudence, en attendant les résultats de l'enquête en cours menée par le Procureur du Faso auprès le Tribunal de grande instance de Kaya. Il encourage la population à faire confiance à la justice.

Government reacts to Associated Press accusations

The government of Burkina Faso reacted strongly to the accusations made by the Associated Press (AP) press agency in a press release dated 23 March. It denounced the allegations made by AP against Burkina Faso's fighting forces as tendentious and malicious, and rejected the article published by AP accusing Burkina Faso's security forces of killing more and more civilians.

The government has questioned the testimonies on which AP relies, from alleged survivors. It suspects the press agency of taking part in a communication campaign aimed at discrediting the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP).

The government is calling for caution pending the outcome of the investigation currently being conducted by the Procureur du Faso at the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Kaya. It is encouraging the population to have confidence in the justice system.

La Chine apporte un soutien logistique au Burkina Faso

La République populaire de Chine a récemment octroyé un important lot de matériels militaires au Burkina Faso, remis lors d'une cérémonie à Ouagadougou le 21 mars. Ce matériel de soutien logistique a été accueilli avec gratitude par le ministre de la Défense nationale, le Général de Brigade Kassoum Coulibaly, qui a souligné son importance dans les opérations de reconquête et de pacification du territoire.

Le lot de matériel comprend divers équipements tels que 58 pickups de marque Maxus, 4 camions-citernes à carburant, 4 citernes à eau, 3 camions-grues, 9 camions d'allègement et 3 camions-plateau, ainsi que 6 téléphones satellitaires. Ces équipements contribueront significativement à améliorer les capacités de mouvement et de déplacement des forces armées burkinabè, essentielles pour mener à bien leurs missions.

Le chargé d'affaires de l'ambassade de Chine au Burkina Faso, Wenzhang Wang, a souligné que ce geste témoigne de l'amitié entre la Chine et le Burkina Faso, ainsi que de l'engagement de la Chine envers la sécurité et le développement en Afrique.

China provides logistical support to Burkina Faso

The People's Republic of China recently donated a large consignment of military equipment to Burkina Faso, which was handed over at a ceremony in Ouagadougou on 21 March. This logistical support equipment was gratefully received by the Minister of National Defence, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, who emphasised its importance in the operations to reconquer and pacify the territory.

The equipment package includes 58 Maxus pick-ups, 4 fuel tankers, 4 water tankers, 3 crane trucks, 9 lighter trucks and 3 flatbed trucks, as well as 6 satellite telephones. This equipment will make a significant contribution to improve the movement and mobility capabilities of Burkina Faso's armed forces, which are essential for carrying out their missions.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Burkina Faso, Wenzhang Wang, stressed that this gesture testifies to the friendship between China and Burkina Faso, as well as China's commitment to security and development in Africa.

Rupture collective de jeûne

L'initiative de la rupture collective de jeûne entre les différentes confessions religieuses au Burkina Faso, a été organisée le 22 mars à Ouagadougou.

Placée sous le thème "Nous sommes tous Burkinabè avant d’être Chrétiens et musulmans", cette initiative a suscité une réponse positive de la part des musulmans, des chrétiens et des autorités coutumières, démontrant ainsi un large soutien à l'idée de cohésion sociale et de solidarité.

Les différentes confessions religieuses ont salué l’initiative qui est perçue comme un moyen efficace de renforcer les liens intercommunautaires et de favoriser une culture de paix et de tolérance.

Collective breaking of the fast

The initiative for a collective breaking of the fast between the different religious denominations in Burkina Faso was organised on 22 March in Ouagadougou.

Under the theme "We are all Burkinabe before we are Christians and Muslims", the initiative received a positive response from Muslims, Christians and traditional authorities, demonstrating broad support for the idea of social cohesion and solidarity.

The various religious denominations welcomed the initiative as an effective way of strengthening inter-community ties and fostering a culture of peace and tolerance.

Ouagadougou et Tenkodogo mobilisé contre les Violences basées sur le genre (VBG)

Deux événements récents au Burkina Faso ont mis en lumière la lutte contre les violences basées sur le genre (VBG).

Le 21 mars à Ouagadougou, la Communauté d’action pour la promotion de la santé sexuelle et reproductive (CAPSSR-BF) a organisé une réunion avec des professionnels des médias pour discuter des défis d'accès aux soins pour les survivantes de VBG.

La juriste et consultante Habibou Kabré a souligné la gravité de la situation, en citant des statistiques alarmantes sur le nombre croissant de cas enregistrés. Les discussions ont mis en lumière les difficultés rencontrées par les survivantes, notamment le silence, la stigmatisation et l'ignorance des voies de recours.

Le 20 mars à Tenkodogo, localité située dans la région du Centre-Est du Burkina Faso, l'Action Citoyenne pour le Développement et la Paix (Action CiDeP) a organisé un panel sur la masculinité positive contre les VBG. Animé par des experts en genre et en paix, ainsi que des représentants religieux et des femmes leaders, l'événement visait à sensibiliser sur l'égalité des genres.

Des femmes leaders ont partagé leurs expériences pour illustrer la contribution des femmes au développement. En parallèle, une équipe médicale a proposé des séances de dépistage du cancer du sein et du col de l'utérus. Le panel s'est conclu par un cross populaire symbolique, signe de l'engagement des hommes à soutenir les femmes pour une société pacifique et égalitaire.

Ouagadougou and Tenkodogo mobilised against gender-based violence (GBV)

Two recent events in Burkina Faso have highlighted the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).

On 21 March in Ouagadougou, the Community of Action for the Promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health (CAPSSR-BF) organised a meeting with media professionals to discuss the challenges of access to care for survivors of GBV.

Lawyer and consultant Habibou Kabré underlined the seriousness of the situation, citing alarming statistics on the growing number of recorded cases. The discussions highlighted the difficulties faced by survivors, including silence, stigmatisation and lack of access to legal remedies.

On 20 March, Action Citoyenne pour le Développement et la Paix (Action CiDeP) organised a panel discussion in Tenkodogo, in the Centre-East region of Burkina Faso, on positive masculinity in the fight against GBV. Led by gender and peace experts, religious representatives and women leaders, the event aimed to raise awareness of gender equality.

Women leaders shared their experiences to illustrate women's contribution to development. At the same time, a medical team offered screening sessions for breast and cervical cancer. The panel concluded with a symbolic cross-country run, a sign of the men's commitment to supporting women for a peaceful and egalitarian society.

L'IPBF lance un projet pour prévenir les mariages précoces des enfants

L'Initiative Pananetugri pour le Bien-être de la Femme (IPBF) a lancé un nouveau projet de prévention des mariages et unions précoces des enfants dans quatre régions du Burkina Faso. Ce projet vise à former des jeunes leaders capables de sensibiliser leurs pairs et à améliorer leurs connaissances sur la lutte contre ce phénomène.

Lancé à Tenkodogo, dans la région du Centre-est, le projet sera mis en œuvre pendant une année dans des régions touchées par la crise sécuritaire et accueillant un nombre élevé de Personnes Déplacées Internes (PDI).

La directrice exécutive de l'IPBF, Micheline Kaboré, a souligné que ces régions ont été sélectionnées en raison des statistiques élevées de mariages d'enfants et d'unions précoces.

La chargée du projet, Carine Zongo, a expliqué que l'objectif est d'éradiquer les mariages et unions précoces, et de former des jeunes filles instruites et engagées pour le développement de leur région et du pays.

The IPBF launches a project to prevent early child marriages

The Pananetugri Initiative for Women's Welfare (IPBF) has launched a new project to prevent child marriages and early unions in four regions of Burkina Faso. The aim of the project is to train young leaders capable of raising awareness among their peers and improving their knowledge of how to combat this phenomenon.

Launched in Tenkodogo, in the Centre-East region, the project will run for one year in regions affected by the security crisis and hosting a high number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The Executive Director of the IPBF, Micheline Kaboré, pointed out that these regions had been selected because of their high rates of child marriage and early marriages.

The project manager, Carine Zongo, explained that the aim is to eradicate child marriages and early marriages, and to train young girls who are educated and committed to the development of their region and the country.

Le Collectif des leaders panafricains (CLP) apporte son soutien à la transition

Le Collectif des leaders panafricains (CLP) a tenu une conférence de presse à Ouagadougou le 22 mars pour clarifier sa position et réaffirmer son soutien à la transition politique en cours au Burkina Faso.

Mahamadi Zoungrana, président du CLP, a souhaité donner sa lecture de la situation nationale, mettant en lumière les progrès réalisés dans des domaines tels que la sécurité, l'agriculture, l'industrie et la santé.

Ensuite, il a exprimé sa volonté de défendre son nom contre les attaques et les manipulations dont il fait l'objet. Le collectif affirme être victime de tentatives de discrédit orchestrées par des forces extérieures cherchant à semer la discorde et la confusion.

Enfin, le CLP, par la voix de son président, a appelé à la mobilisation pour prolonger la transition, arguant que les progrès réalisés justifient la nécessité de laisser plus de temps au Capitaine Ibrahim Traoré pour mener à bien ses missions. Il a évoqué l'article 19 de la Charte de la Transition, qui permet la révision de cette charte avec l'autorisation du président de la transition et en accord avec un tiers de l'Assemblée législative de transition, comme base légale pour cette prolongation.

The Collectif des leaders panafricains (CLP) supports the transition

The Collectif des leaders panafricains (CLP) held a press conference in Ouagadougou on 22 March to clarify its position and reaffirm its support for the political transition underway in Burkina Faso.

Mahamadi Zoungrana, Chairman of the CLP, gave his assessment of the national situation, highlighting the progress made in areas such as security, agriculture, industry and health.

He then expressed his determination to defend his name against the attacks and manipulations to which it has been subjected. The collective claims to be the victim of attempts to discredit it orchestrated by outside forces seeking to sow discord and confusion.

Finally, the CLP, through its president, called for mobilisation to extend the transition, arguing that the progress made justifies the need to give Captain Ibrahim Traoré more time to carry out his duties. La Coordination du Centre réaffirme son soutien à la transition

La Coordination régionale du Centre de la veille citoyenne patriotique a tenu une conférence de presse le 21 mars à Ouagadougou pour donner sa lecture de la situation nationale.

Sur le plan sécuritaire, la coordination a salué les efforts déployés pour renforcer l'armée, notamment en termes d'équipement et de réorganisation du dispositif militaire.

Sur le plan économique, malgré le contexte difficile, la coordination a noté une amélioration, avec une croissance économique passée de 1,2% en 2022 à 4,4% en 2023, et une projection de 6,4% en 2024.

Sur le plan diplomatique, la coordination a réaffirmé son attachement à l'affirmation de la souveraineté nationale et sa coopération avec l'Alliance des États du Sahel (AES), saluant notamment la décision de retrait des États membres de la CEDEAO et la création d'une armée conjointe entre les trois pays membres.

Sur le plan social, la coordination a salué diverses mesures prises par les autorités de la transition, telles que l'initiative présidentielle pour la production agricole 2023/2024 et l'adoption du décret fixant les salaires minima interprofessionnels garantis (SMIG) à 45 000 FCFA/mois.

La coordination a appelé les autorités de la transition à accélérer le processus d'adoption de la nouvelle constitution, la relecture de la charte de la transition, et le projet de création de la nouvelle monnaie des États membres de l'AES.

The Centre Coordination reaffirms its support for the transition

The Coordination Régionale du Centre de la veille citoyenne patriotique held a press conference in Ouagadougou on 21 March to give its assessment of the national situation.

On the security front, the coordination welcomed the efforts made to strengthen the army, particularly in terms of equipment and the reorganisation of the military structure.

On the economic front, despite the difficult context, the coordination noted an improvement, with economic growth rising from 1.2% in 2022 to 4.4% in 2023, and a projection of 6.4% in 2024.

On the diplomatic front, the coordination reaffirmed its commitment to the assertion of national sovereignty and its cooperation with the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), welcoming in particular the decision by ECOWAS member states to withdraw and the creation of a joint army between the three member countries.

On the social front, the coordination welcomed various measures taken by the transitional authorities, such as the presidential initiative for agricultural production 2023/2024 and the adoption of the decree setting the guaranteed inter-professional minimum wage (SMIG) at 45,000 FCFA/month.

The coordination called on the transitional authorities to speed up the process of adopting the new constitution, rereading the transitional charter, and the project to create a new currency for the ESA member states.

Troisième édition du Festival Konkoun du Nayala

Le Festival Konkoun du Nayala, qui s’est tenu du 28 au 30 mars à Toma, chef-lieu de la province du Nayala, a célébré la culture San à travers diverses activités telles que la lutte traditionnelle, la danse traditionnelle féminine, les flûtes et les masques.

Initié par l'Association pour la Sauvegarde Culturelle et la Promotion de la Paix dans le Nayala (ASCPPN), cet événement culturel vise à combler le vide laissé par la disparition de grands festivals comme le LUMASAN.

La troisième édition du Festival Konkoun du Nayala comprenait une compétition de lutte traditionnelle, des prestations de flûtes et de masques, ainsi que des spectacles de danse traditionnelle féminine.

Le thème de cette édition, "Culture, facteur de paix et développement durable : quelle synergie d’actions entre les filles et les fils du Nayala pour sa valorisation", a mis en avant le rôle de la culture dans la construction de la paix et du développement durable, en dépit des défis sécuritaires auxquels la région est confrontée.

Third edition of the Konkoun Festival of Nayala

Une association russo-burkinabè appelle à la protection des valeurs coutumières

L'association russo-burkinabè "African Initiative" a tenu une rencontre à Ouagadougou le 21 mars, sur la « protection et conservation des valeurs coutumières et traditionnelles sous influence occidentale ».

Evgenia Fanavievna Tikhonova, Directrice de la Maison russe au Burkina Faso, a souligné les similitudes entre les défis rencontrés par la Fédération de Russie et le Burkina Faso en matière de préservation des valeurs traditionnelles. Elle a mis en avant la sauvegarde de la langue russe et de l'Église orthodoxe russe comme exemples de défis similaires à ceux auxquels le Burkina Faso est confronté.

Issaka Sourwema, chef coutumier et ancien ministre des Affaires religieuses et coutumières, a insisté sur le rôle crucial de l'État dans la promotion et la protection des valeurs culturelles. Il a souligné la nécessité de renforcer le cadre législatif et réglementaire, d'appliquer les textes existants et de dynamiser les institutions compétentes.

L’écrivain Ismaël Taoko, connu sous le nom de "le Catalyseur", a mis en lumière l'influence croissante des pays occidentaux et des nouvelles technologies sur les valeurs culturelles africaines. Il a souligné que cette influence entraîne une perte de repères et de valeurs culturelles, avec une tendance à adopter des modes de vie et des identités culturelles occidentales.

Martin Yaméogo, membre-organisateur de "African Initiative", a souligné l'importance de la culture comme point de repère fondamental. Il a rappelé que la culture est essentielle et que sa perte entraîne la perte de l'essentiel de ce qui définit une société.

A Russian-Burkinabe association calls for the protection of customary values

The Russian-Burkinabe association "African Initiative" held a meeting in Ouagadougou on 21 March on the "protection and conservation of customary and traditional values under Western influence".

Evgenia Fanavievna Tikhonova, Director of the Russian House in Burkina Faso, highlighted the similarities between the challenges faced by the Russian Federation and Burkina Faso in terms of preserving traditional values. Un projet pour le développement et la stabilisation des Etats du Sahel

Le projet "Sol de Paix", une initiative lancée par le groupe Faaki International, a été présenté à la presse le 20 mars à Ouagadougou. Ce projet vise à répondre aux besoins de développement et de stabilisation dans les États de l'Alliance des Etats du Sahel (AES), notamment le Burkina Faso, le Niger et le Mali.

Ce projet met l'accent sur la formation professionnelle, l'inclusion sociale, la promotion de l'entrepreneuriat, de la culture et du sport, et cible principalement les Personnes Déplacées Internes (PDI) ainsi que les communautés les plus vulnérables vivant dans l’Alliance des Etats du Sahel (AES).

Le projet "Sol de Paix" se déploie dans les domaines culturel, humanitaire et de l’autonomisation.

Les initiateurs du projet ont lancé un appel à la générosité des personnes de bonne volonté pour soutenir cette initiative. A project for the development and stabilisation of the Sahel states

The "Sol de Paix" project, an initiative launched by the Faaki International Group, was presented to the press on 20 March in Ouagadougou. The aim of the project is to meet the needs of development and stabilisation in the States of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), notably Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali.

The project focuses on vocational training, social inclusion, the promotion of entrepreneurship, culture and sport, and primarily targets Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the most vulnerable communities living in the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

The "Sol de Paix" project covers the cultural, humanitarian and empowerment fields.

The initiators of the project have launched an appeal for the generosity of people of goodwill to support this initiative. The ultimate aim of "Sol de Paix" is to provide economic opportunities, foster social inclusion and celebrate cultural diversity, thereby helping to build a prosperous and peaceful future for the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States.

Plusieurs terroristes tués à Sanaba

Le 18e Bataillon d'Intervention Rapide (BIR) et les Volontaires pour la Défense de la Patrie (VDP) ont mené une opération réussie contre les groupes armés terroristes dans la commune de Sanaba dans la région de la Boucle du Mouhoun, le 3 mars. Cette action a permis de libérer la population locale de l'oppression terroriste.

L'opération a permis de débusquer les criminels qui terrorisaient la région. Malgré la résistance rencontrée, les forces combattantes ont réussi à éliminer plus de 30 terroristes lors des échanges de tirs.

Les soldats ont hissé le drapeau du Burkina Faso sur les pylônes du réseau mobile local, symbolisant ainsi la libération totale de la ville. Depuis le 15 mars, le drapeau national flotte dans la localité.

Several terrorists killed in Sanaba

The 18th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) carried out a successful operation against armed terrorist groups in the commune of Sanaba in the Boucle du Mouhoun region on 3 March. The operation freed the local population from terrorist oppression.

The operation succeeded in flushing out the criminals who had been terrorising the region. Despite the resistance encountered, the fighting forces succeeded in eliminating more than 30 terrorists in an exchange of fire.

The soldiers raised the Burkina Faso flag on the local mobile network masts, symbolising the complete liberation of the town. The national flag has been flying in the town since 15 March.

Des groupes de terroristes neutralisés

Les services de renseignement ont appris le 25 mars l’arrivée d’un groupe de terroristes au Nord de Gayérie, dans la localité de Kiani.

Le 26 mars, les terroristes ont été débusqués et neutralisés par le 20e Bataillon d’intervention rapide.

Le bilan provisoire a fait état de plus de cent terroristes abattus lors des combats, plus de soixante motos récupérées et d’autres brûlées, une cinquantaine de fusils d’assaut AK 47, une dizaine de mitrailleuses PKMS, des lance-roquettes RPG7, des milliers de munitions, ainsi qu’une soixantaine de tonnes de vivres récupérées.

L’armée a remporté d’autres victoires dans la région de l’Est et au Centre-Nord.

Groups of terrorists neutralised

On 25 March, the intelligence services learned of the arrival of a group of terrorists to the north of Gayérie, in the locality of Kiani.

On 26 March, the terrorists were flushed out and neutralised by the 20th Rapid Intervention Battalion.

Provisional figures show that more than a hundred terrorists were killed in the fighting, more than sixty motorbikes were recovered and others burnt, around fifty AK 47 assault rifles, around ten PKMS machine guns, RPG7 rocket launchers, thousands of rounds of ammunition and around sixty tonnes of food were recovered.

The army scored other victories in the East and Centre-North regions.
