Deux morts lors du coup d’État

Le 20 février 2022, une note a été publiée par la présidence du Faso. Elle fait état de deux morts et d’une douzaine de blessés après les évènements des 23 et 24 janvier qui ont porté au pouvoir le Lieutenant-colonel Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba, président du Mouvement patriotique pour la Sauvegarde et la Restauration (MPSR).

Le nouveau chef de l’État avait demandé d’ouvrir une enquête sur les dommages collatéraux. Selon cette enquête, deux personnes sont décédées et une douzaine ont été blessées par des projectiles perdus. Le président du Faso s’est engagé à apporter son soutien aux familles des victimes.

Cette note intervient à la suite d'un reportage effectué par le média « Radio Oméga », le 19 février, sur le cas de Aïcha Moyenga, une adolescente atteinte d’une balle alors qu’elle dormait à son domicile le 23 janvier. La balle n’aurait toujours pas été extraite, faute de moyens.

Par ailleurs, la commission technique mise en place par le Président du Faso pour l’élaboration d’un projet de charte et d’agenda de la transition a terminé ses travaux. Elle a remis son rapport le 23 février. Les Burkinabè attendent avec impatience ses conclusions.

The coup in Burkina Faso resulted in 2 dead and a dozen wounded.

On February 20, 2022, the Presidency of Burkina Faso reported two dead and a dozen wounded following the the coup that took place in the country. Indeed, the Head of State instructed the competent services to open an investigation in order to take stock of the collateral damage. It emerged from these investigations that two people died and a dozen were injured by the effect of the stray projectiles. The President of Faso has therefore instructed those actions be taken with the families of the victims, in order to best support them.

This note comes following a report carried out by the media "Radio Oméga", on February 19, on the case of Aïcha MOYENGA, a teenager victim of the events of January 23 and 24, 2022. Indeed, she was hit by a bullet as she slept at home on January 23. Three weeks after the events, the bullet still lodged in her body.

In the rest of the news, the technical commission set up by the President of Faso to work on the draft charter and agenda for the transition has completed its work. The reports was submitted on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

50  morts après une explosion sur un site d’orpaillage

Le 21 février, en fin d’après-midi, une explosion a eu lieu sur le site d’orpaillage de Gbomblora, village situé à une quinzaine de kilomètres de Gaoua, chef-lieu de la région du Sud-Ouest.

Cette explosion a provoqué la mort de plus de 50 personnes. Elle serait due à des explosifs qui étaient stockés sur ce site. La plupart des blessés ont été évacués vers le Centre hospitalier régional (CHR) de Gaoua.

An explosion caused more than fifty deaths in the southwestern region of Burkina Faso

On Monday, February 21, 2022 at a market place of a gold mining site of a village named Gbomblora, in the southwestern, a colossal tragedy happened. Indeed, at the end of the afternoon that day, a big explosion caused by a stock of explosive leading to the death of more than fifty peoples and several injured some of which serious. The most of the injured have been evacuated to the regional hospital center of Gaoua.

Point sur la situation sécuritaire au Burkina Faso

Une action conjuguée de l’armée et des Volontaires pour la Défense de la Patrie (VDP) dans la semaine du 19 février a permis de détruire plusieurs bases terroristes et récupérer du matériel à Titao dans la région du Nord.

Deux agents de santé de Ouindigui, village situé dans la région du Nord du Burkina, ont été relâchés le 17 février par leurs ravisseurs. Ils avaient été enlevés en décembre 2021 par des individus armés après que ceux-ci aient attaqué le village et brulé des greniers et vandalisé le dépôt de médicaments.

Le car d’une compagnie de transport - ayant quitté Banfora, chef-lieu de la région des Cascades, pour Bobo-Dioulasso, chef-lieu de la région des Hauts-Bassins - a été la cible d’une attaque d’hommes armés. Le bilan est de trois morts, plusieurs blessés et plus de 500 000 F CFA  dérobés.

Une unité composée des forces de défense et de sécurité et de volontaires pour la Défense de la Patrie (VDP) ont détruit des bases terroristes à Dougouri dans le Loroum, région du Nord le jeudi 17 février 2022.

Security situation report in Burkina Faso

Le Burkina Faso face à une insécurité alimentaire imminente

Le 18 février, une conférence de presse organisée par la Confédération Paysanne du Faso a alerté sur la sécurité alimentaire. La Confédération est inquiète des résultats de la campagne agro-sylvo- pastorale écoulée. Selon le président de la confédération, 80 % des exploitants ont une opinion très négative sur les résultats de la campagne. Il estime que 2,7 millions de Burkinabè, soit 12 % de la population, auront besoin d’une assistance alimentaire d’ici le mois d’août.

Pour la Confédération, cette situation est due aux changements climatiques, à la situation sécuritaire du pays et à la pandémie du COVID-19. Elle suggère de renforcer les stocks de sécurité alimentaire, de distribuer des vivres aux ménages vulnérables, de sécuriser l’ensemble du territoire et de renforcer les capacités des femmes du domaine agro-sylvo-pastoral. La Confédération propose d’accompagner les autorités dans la mise en œuvre de politiques ingénieuses et de stratégies nouvelles, adaptées aux réalités du terrain.

Burkina Faso facing imminent food insecurity

On Friday February 18, 2022, a press conference was held organized by the “Confédération Paysanne du Faso”. The purpose of this press briefing was to alert on the state of food security in Burkina Faso. The confederation says it is worried about the results of the past agro-sylvo-pastoral campaign. According to the president of the confederation, the results of the campaign was very negative and estimates that nearly 2.7 million Burkinabè, or 12% of the population, will need food assistance by August this year. According to them, this situation is due to climate change, the country's security situation and the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it offers possible solutions to remedy this situation. Among other things, it proposes to strengthen food security stocks, distribute food to vulnerable households, secure the entire territory and build the capacities of women in the agro-sylvo-pastoral field. Réunion  de soutien au président

Initiée par plusieurs Organisations de la société civile et appuyée par des leaders d’opinion dont des chefs coutumiers, une manifestation s’est tenue le 19 février sur la Place de la révolution de Ouagadougou. Les manifestants ont voulu ainsi apporter leur soutien au MPSR.

A meeting to stand by the lieutenant colonel DAMIBA, president of Burkina Faso

The meeting has been initiated by several civil society organizations and endorsed by some opinion leaders and some traditional chief. It started in the afternoon, that Saturday February 19, 2022 at the “place de la révolution” in Ouagadougou. The demonstrators wanted to stand by the president DAMIBA and his movement MPSR.

Troisième édition de« Parole du cœur et du corps »

Le 15 février, la troisième édition du projet « parole du cœur et du corps » s’est tenue à Ouagadougou. Organisée par l’association « Nongloum Kouni », dont la promotrice est Esther Tarbangdo, cette initiative regroupe une quinzaine de filles pendant une durée de trois semaines dans le but de lutter contre la violence faite aux femmes. C’est une occasion pour les filles et les femmes de s’exprimer à travers l’art pour dénoncer cette réalité.

Third edition of “voice of the heart and the body”, a project to fight against sexist violence

On Tuesday, February 15, 2022 the association “Nongloum Kouni” held its third project edition named “voice of the heart and the body”. The promoter, is Esther Tarbangdo. This project is an initiative which rally about fifteen women for three weeks to fight against sexist violence. Indeed, it’s an opportunity for young girls and women to express themselves through art in a society marked by sexist violence.

Les ONG lancent le projet « Burkin’yali »

Le Secrétariat permanent des organisations non gouvernementales (SPONG) a lancé  le 18 février à Ouagadougou le projet « Burkin’yali », qui signifie en Mooré « droits fondamentaux ». Ce projet d’un coût global de 174 144 500 F CFA, a pour objectif de contribuer au renforcement de la culture des droits humains et devoirs citoyens au Burkina Faso.

Selon le représentant du secrétaire général du ministère de la Justice et de la promotion des droits humains, Abdoulaye Goumbané, « le projet Burkin’Yali est une réponse adaptée aux besoins du Burkina Faso, face à la faiblesse de l’appropriation des droits humains, des atteintes et des violations des droits humains à tous les niveaux, la montée de l’incivisme et de l’insécurité mettant à mal la cohésion sociale et la paix ».

Le projet va s’étendre sur les 13 régions du pays avec pour ambition, de disposer d’une justice crédible, accessible à tous.

SPONG and its partners launch the “Burkin’yali” project

The Permanent Secretariat of Non-Governmental Organizations (SPONG) launched the “Burkin’yali” project, which means “fundamental rights” in Mooré, in Ouagadougou. This project, launched on February 18, 2022, with a total cost of 174,144,500 CFA francs, aims to contribute to strengthening the culture of human rights and civic duties in Burkina Faso. According to the representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice and the Promotion of Human Rights, Abdoulaye Goumbané, "The Burkin'Yali project is a response adapted to the needs of Burkina Faso, faced with the weak appropriation of human rights, abuses and violations of human rights at all levels, the rise of incivility and insecurity jeopardizing social cohesion and peace”. The project targets all the 13 regions with the vision of having credible justice, accessible to all.

Un mini marathon pour les femmes d’un quartier

L’Association Nabouyizanga pour le développement intégré (ANDI) a lancé un marathon pour les femmes, dans le quartier Wayalghin de Ouagadougou.

Une vingtaine de femmes ont pris part à cette première édition du mini marathon de Wayalghin. La distance totale parcourue était de 2 kilomètres. L’objectif de ce mini-marathon est de renforcer le vivre-ensemble entre voisins.

The Nabouyizanga Association for Integrated Development (NAID) launched a mini marathon for the benefit of women in the neighbourhood to strengthen living together between neighbors

In order to contribute to strengthening solidarity between people, the Nabouyizanga Association for Integrated Development (ANDI) launched a marathon for women in the Wayalghin district of Ouagadougou.

About twenty women took part in this first edition of the Wayalghin mini-marathon. The total distance travelled is less than 2 Kilometers.

On Monday february 15,2022 at 14h, an armed group burnt the primary school of Kiparga, a locality of the Eastern region.

On Monday february 14, 2022 a convoy of elements of the national army and volunteers was ambushed at Nogo, in the northern region. One dead has been registered in the list of the volunteers and 10 wounded in the list of both regular army and volunteers.

Une grande conférence sur l’ « Éducation islamique »

Des milliers de participants issus de différentes associations islamiques et de différentes provinces du Burkina Faso ont bénéficié de prêches sur l’éducation islamique à la grande conférence organisée par l’Association de Prêche et d’Appel islamique pour la paix et la cohésion sociale. Ces prêches ont été livrés notamment par le Cheick Abdoul Moumouni Nana, le Dr Mohamed Isaac Kindo et le Cheick Ismaël Derra.

« Nous avons parlé d’éducation de nos enfants parce que nous avons remarqué que le manque d’éducation occasionne beaucoup de maux que nous pouvons éviter. Nous avions remarqué que beaucoup de nos valeurs sont en voie de disparition surtout au niveau de la jeunesse et nous sommes tous responsables. Donc, on voulait, à travers le thème, interpeller tous les fidèles et les inviter à maximiser sur l’éducation des enfants, moteur d’une cohésion sociale », a déclaré Cheick Abdoul Moumouni Nana.

L’objectif du président du comité d’organisation Ousséni Kiendga, à travers une telle conférence, est de réunir les musulmans autour de sujets importants.

A conference about "Islamic education"

By the thousands, participants from different Islamic associations and different provinces of Burkina Faso favored sermons on Islamic education at the major conference organized by the Association of Preaching and Islamic Appeal for Peace and Social Cohesion. These words were delivered in particular by Cheick Abdoul Moumouni Nana, Dr Mohamed Isaac Kindo, Cheick Ismaël Derra.

“We talked about the education of our children because we noticed that the lack of education causes many evils that we can avoid. We noticed that many of our values ​​are disappearing especially at the youth level and we are all responsible. So, we wanted, through the theme, to appeal to all the faithful and invite them to maximize on the education of children, the engine of social cohesion,” said Cheick Abdoul Moumouni Nana.

For the president of the organizing committee Ousséni Kiendga, through such a conference, the objective is to bring together Muslims around important issues.
